Stay on top of your day

Do you have a list of things to do as long as your arm? Does that list get significantly longer, and very little gets crossed off?

Now is the time to do something about it!
If you have a list, you are at least on the start line, but if you don’t and most tasks are in your head then now is the time to write them down. Don’t worry about the order, just get as much down as possible.
Once everything is written down then you can put each item in order of priority.
🧿 Items that are top priority & need action
🧿Items that are important, but not top priority
🧿Low priority items

You might be thinking to do all the quick easy stuff just to get it off the list, but then the harder/higher priority items will still be there. The best thing to do is to do those higher priority tasks first. If it’s difficult or time consuming then each time you work on it, you will be getting closer to getting it finished. Make sense?

Can any of the items on your list be outsourced to someone else? This will leave you more time for the high priority tasks.

While you are working, avoid distractions – turn off the emails, turn off your phone, do whatever you need to do to stay focussed. It takes 25 minutes to get fully back into a task each time you are disrupted!

Avoid perfectionism – Sometimes when we are working on a project, we think it has got to be absolutely perfect, but that doesn’t always need to be the case. If you are having to show a client a piece of work e.g., a logo, show them the concepts first. If you sit there until it is perfect in your eyes, with hours of work, and you send it to be looked at by the client, they might decide to change an aspect and all of that time is wasted. Work smart not hard.
