Getting to know your customers

Getting to know your customers

Digital marketing means that you are able to measure statistics about your audience and see how and who engages within your current marketing strategy.

You can build up a relationship with customers by engaging with them replying to comments, thanking them for their interaction, such as likes, comments and shares, via your e-mail marketing campaigns etc. When you engage with the customers, they feel like you actually care about them and their opinions. This also works with having emails that go out to potential customers with the customers name on it, rather than a generic email.

When you create a connection with them, they are more likely to purchase from your business, becoming a customer and then a returning customer. These customers also tell other people about your business by word-of-mouth. This is good because it is free advertising. People are more likely to trust the opinion of someone they know.

Analytics

By using analytics, you can see more information about the people who visit your page or site, such as their geographical location, sex, age, what link they used to connect to you e.g., home page, social media etc.

Once you have collated this information it will be easier to find a targeted audience. For example, you may see that more men, aged 25-30, from Birmingham show the most interest in your products and services. This will give you a benchmark to set your next marketing strategies. It might be that you do exclusive offers and promotions to target other demographics, such as for women, or a different age group. You need to use the collated statistics in a way to benefit your business.

You may look at the analytics and see that a certain day of the week underperforms compared to the other days. Is there a reason for this? Can you do something that would boost the sales for that day?
